Recently, a number of studies related to waqf exist. However, there are only few studies focusing on the the fiqh, legal, theoretical and practical issues in making waqf a result-oriented investment. Even though waqf is voluntary in nature, waqf has played an important role in the economy of Islamic world in the past. To this end, the ICAST Research Centre is conducted in order to provide innovation in waqf utilisation for various purposes, directly and indirectly, commercially and socially, which are expected to result in socio-economic benefits to many stakeholders in micro level as well as in macro level.
